Having lived in Haiti and the Bahamas and read what I could on the histories I was delighted to discover these accounts. We know there were Buccaneers but to have their witings is facinating. I was looking in this book for an account of the origin of the word "Buccaneer" to confirm what I had heard which is that Buccane is an indian word which means barbique or village. When the sailors saw a fire they went ashore to see what was cooking (usually whild big) in the Buccane or village. French sailors particularly made bases in Haiti which was not inhabited by the Spainish. I did not find this information in this book but I have not yet finished.Product details
