Pushing thirty, broke and broken, Kat Hurley fled to Hawaii to escape a trifecta of failure her deteriorating relationship, her stale career, her moot five-year plan. Instead, she found herself drowning in the deluge of thoughts and memories that loneliness let in, dredging up haunts from her childhood, including the testimony that sentenced her father for her mother’s murder. Determined to start fresh, Kat finds solace in Hawaii's stunning surf and devours stacks of spiritual books while careening down a path of deep healing and exploration. A rags to riches of the soul, Kat openly shares her demons and false starts, begrudgingly taking up a practice in meditation, which turns into a Battle of the Minds between her and her newly acquainted ego. Bravely honest, funny, and terribly inspirational, I think I’ll make It reveals a woman wavering on the edge of sanity (and ten-foot breaks) and tumbling over the precipice to the only place she might be able to discover real forgiveness, peace, and hope.

Get ready to laugh, cry and feel inspired. Kat's amazing story immediately pulls you in and doesn't let go. You continually want to know what is going to happen next and how she could possibly get through the obstacles that pop up in front of her.She makes such a strong connection with the reader: it's as if she is speaking directly to you and makes you as the reader want to be her friend. It was as if she was sitting in front of me telling me about her life over coffee. Her similes and descriptions made me feel as if I'm watching everything going on right in front of me. I felt her pins and needles when she was at her retreat. I felt her tears when she cried. She was just so articulate, it was very easy to follow along.
Her inspiring words really get you thinking about yourself and how you think and feel. I think a lot of people can relate to her story of finding yourself and finding peace. We're all in search of it, whether you want to admit it or not. Her story is definitely enlightening and simply by telling her story and everything she went through, she shows the reader that you can make it through, even when you think you've hit rock bottom. You have to look inside yourself and find your purpose (which is obviously easier said than done). It's not an easy road but it's one we should all take.
This book will definitely make you reflect on your life and prove to you that no matter how bad things seem to be, you just have to pick yourself up and find the inspiration to keep on going.

This storey was so interesting that I could not put it down. Kat tell us of her more than interesting life. Autobiographies of people unknown to the media have the potential of being self serving and can make for a very, who cares, boring read. Kat tells us a story that is sensitive and comes straight from the heart. Her own personal struggles and path to self awareness I could really relate to. I felt very close to her and could really relate to her story. I reccommend this book highly to anyone who is walking their own path of self discovery and spiritual growth. Five Stars!
Started out great, but the story seemed to falter as it progressed. Was pretty funny and smart at times. Just ended pretty vague. Overall OK, but I wouldn't read it again.
Kat writes of love and loss on so many levels and her fight to find her true self. Her story is a life lesson for all of us that struggle - we can make it! Kat draws you into her life as though you are sitting with her over a glass of wine, as she shares her story with you- Read this book - you won't regret it!
A book about self discovery and healing. At times the book was more like reading someone's journal but for the subject matter and the circumstance, and the healing that had to occur, it appears to be the writers most viable option.
I loved reading Kat Hurley's honest telling of her story. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I laughed and cried right along with Kat.
Although I have not had the life experiences that she had, I think we can all relate to the struggle to find our happiest self. Kat not only makes us feel like we are not alone in the struggle, she teaches us a valuable lesson in doing so.
Read this book!
I was lucky enough to read this book before it was published and to live with the brilliant and beautiful Kat Hurley. I bought myself a copy as I need to be able to say I knew her when and bought a first edition. When I finally received it, I opened it again to reread the preface and within no time and no plan to read, I had read through Chapter 5.
I Think I'll Make It tells the story of a brave, sensitive and gifted woman on the journey for her life. Through hard work and sheer tenacity, Kat becomes a spiritual guide to those of us lucky enough to know her and to the rest of the world who gets to read her first of many books. She is a tremendous source of inspiration and belly laughs accompanied by snorts throughout the book and deserves every joy her new life has offered and will continue to offer her. She is aware and open and an an honest force in a rough world. Kat Hurley and I Think I'll Make It are certainly on the path of destiny and a very special destiny at that.
Quite honestly I don't seek these type of books to read; you know, personal journals of one"s quest to "find themselves"- and I don't mean that in a negative or condescending way at all. Everyone's journey throughout life is radically different, depending on one's experiences and so on. Why would any one person's experience resonate with mine and vice versa? However, I made a commitment to read Kat Hurley's story for personal reasons and I can't say enough, or with the emotions my intelligence can verbally state how grateful I am to have made that commitment! Eloquently written with a continual comic relief that is so genuine and real, the issues, experiences and challenges Kat Hurley shares are so ridiculously relatable it's impossible to not feel at the least, reflective at one's own journey after reading this book. Having been born and raised in Hawaii, the accuracy on all of Kat's references to local words, sayings and customs sealed the deal for me-damn you're good Kat!! "I Think I'll Make It" revealed something about me that I was truly surprised to discover; yes we're all different and have individual experiences that make us who we are, but guess what? We're all human and that common bond flows deep in all of us with shared emotions, fears, and triumphs--sounds simple, but "I Think I'll Make It"gave me a reason to truly understand how to learn from others. So take it from a person who would on all occasions shy away from this genre of books--you"re going to want to read this one! Oh, and expect to catch yourself sneaking in a chapter or two at work. Just say'n.
